Subject: 7: Dauþuz - Vom schwarzen Schmied From: .jh Date: 2021-12-23T20:08:00Z Tags: music blog best\ of best\ of\ 2021 Dauþuz 2021 ![Vom schwarzen Schmied](/gfx/980326.jpg) I first came across Dauþuz last year with their EP _Grubenfall 1727_, which despite being an EP nearly made my list. So I was excited when they come out with this new full length. I was unaware that all their lyrics deal exclusively with the topic of European mining, I could imagine far less metal subjects so I get the aesthetic even if I personally have little interest in the subject. The songs have a fairly traditional first/second wave feel to them albeit with an ample dose of folk influences. The vocals range from wails to chants to something cleanish, but not enough of the latter for it to be a distraction to yours truly. In many ways this feels like a natural progression from the last EP and there is nothing here to complain about other than perhaps that some of the songs are a bit on the longer side and drag just a bit. In all a minor complaint, which shouldn't take away from the overall accomplishments here. [Dauþuz](https://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Dau%C3%BEuz/3540419047) ---
