Subject: 9: Lamp of Murmuur - Heir of Ecliptical Romanticism From: .jh Date: 2020-12-12T23:40:00Z Tags: music blog best\ of best\ of\ 2020 Lamp\ of\ Murmuur 2020 ![Heir of Ecliptical Romanticism](/gfx/876225.jpg) To say Lamp of Murmuur has been hyped might be the understatement of the year, yet honestly it took me a long time and many listens to actually get into them. This isn't necessarily easy listening but it is ultimately quite rewarding. The homage to Les Légions Noires is quite clear although here you can mostly hear what is going on as opposed on some of the older LLN tapes. As this would have it we stay at a mid-paced tempo and this is high on atmosphere, lots of oozing synths, and occasionally some soaring melodies. Vocals often remind me of _Hvis Lyset Tar Oss_ era Burzum. Raw minimalist blackmetal like this needs not only riffs but also compositional chops to build songs to not lose the listener, luckily the unnamed individual behind Lamp Of Murmuur has both.
